At Clark Family Eyecare, we believe in offering our clients the highest standard of eye examination as well as the best eyewear and prescription lenses available. We have made a significant investment in our diagnostic technology, being one of the first practices locally to invest in a state-of-the-art, hospital-standard Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner. Likened to a MRI-scan or ultrasound, this technology provides a much more detailed, 3-dimensional assessment of the central retina and the optic nerve.
OCT, known as an ocular health scan by our clients, uses light waves, to build a 3D scan of the tiny layers the back of the eye. This advanced technology gives us incredible detail, from the top surface of the retina all the way down to the underlying surfaces, which is not visible to your optometrist by other means.
Health scans are used to monitor your eye health and all the gradual changes that happen within the eye over time. Using the microscopic detail the health scan allow, our optometrists are also able to detect and track any signs of ocular disease in their early stages, such as Macular Degeneration, Diabetes and Glaucoma.
